MEET JENNY

MEET JENNY

I’m a Silverton native and a graduate of Silverton High School. After spending a number of years away, I returned home to help care for my parents and found myself becoming deeply involved again in the community I love.

My background includes behavioral health and recovery services, small-business ownership, and work as a mobile notary. Today, I work as a Qualified Mental Health Associate in a secure residential mental health facility.

Service has been a consistent thread throughout my life. I’m active in Silverton’s recovery community, have served on Silverton’s Travel & Tourism Committee, and have been involved in community efforts that bring people together.

I’m also a mom, a grandma, a small-business owner, and someone who believes strongly in showing up for my neighbors.

I believe our best outcomes come when we listen first, work together, and remember that local government belongs to all of us.

JENNY OHREN FOR CITY COUNCIL  SILVERTON, OREGON

WHY I'M RUNNING

I’m running for Silverton City Council because I believe local government works best when leaders listen first, communicate clearly, and aren’t afraid to ask difficult questions.

Every decision made at City Hall ultimately affects real people: our neighbors, our families, our local businesses, and the community we share.

I believe in starting with where we are, caring for what we have, and working together to make thoughtful decisions about Silverton’s future.

People matter more than politics.

MY VALUES

Service
Public office is about service. Decisions should be made with the well-being of the entire community in mind, including people whose voices aren’t always heard.

Transparency
People deserve clear, concise information about what their city is doing, why decisions are being made, and how public resources are being used.

Stewardship
Before taking on something new, we should responsibly maintain the infrastructure, services, and resources we already have. Taxpayer dollars deserve careful consideration.

Above all, I believe people matter more than politics. My commitment is to listen, ask questions, communicate clearly, and make thoughtful decisions for the community we all call home.

Listening & Curiosity
I don’t believe in beginning with a predetermined answer. I believe in asking questions, doing the research, listening to different perspectives, and being willing to learn before making a decision.

Independence
Silverton City Council is nonpartisan, and I intend to approach it that way. Good ideas don’t belong to a political party. I will evaluate issues on their merits and make decisions based on what I believe best serves Silverton.

Respect
We can disagree without treating one another as enemies. Every person who comes before the City Council deserves to be heard and treated with dignity.
